(PRMG) Four-time Grammy Award-winning rock band Kings of Leon announce the arrival of O My Beloved, their tenth studio album, due November 6, 2026. Released through LoveTap Records, LLC, and distributed by Virgin Music Group, the thirteen-track collection marks a significant new chapter for the Nashville-based quartet, comprising Caleb Followill, Nathan Followill, Jared Followill, and Matthew Followill.
More than two decades into a career that has taken them from their early beginnings in Tennessee to international recognition, Kings of Leon approach their tenth studio album with a renewed perspective on songwriting, family, and the experiences that have shaped their lives. O My Beloved finds the band embracing a more intimate and reflective musical direction, reconnecting with the songwriting instincts that originally brought them together while drawing on the perspective and maturity gained throughout their journey.
One of the defining milestones of O My Beloved is that it marks the first time Kings of Leon have produced an entire full-length studio album themselves. From the project's inception, the band took responsibility for the production process, allowing the material to develop organically and maintaining a direct connection between the original songwriting ideas and the finished recordings. The decision reflects the circumstances surrounding the album's creation and the group's desire to preserve the authenticity and intimacy of the music.
The origins of O My Beloved can be traced to an unexpected turn of events in 2025. Frontman Caleb Followill suffered a serious foot injury while playing with his children at home. The injury required surgery and prevented him from participating in the band's scheduled European touring commitments that summer.
During his recovery, away from the demands of touring and the usual recording environment, Followill found himself spending more time with an acoustic guitar. What emerged was a collection of stripped-down compositions that brought him back to the intimate songwriting he and drummer Nathan Followill had explored before Kings of Leon became the internationally recognized band audiences know today.
As the new material developed, the group's original musical direction began to change. Previously developed electric-oriented compositions were set aside as the band increasingly gravitated toward the more personal songs taking shape. Recognizing that something distinctive was emerging, Kings of Leon chose to follow the creative momentum rather than force the project into its original framework. That decision ultimately established the foundation of O My Beloved.
The resulting album reflects on the people, relationships, experiences, and seemingly ordinary moments that shape a life. Its songwriting draws on childhood memories, family, gratitude, and the passage of time, offering a personal perspective on the individuals behind one of modern rock's most recognizable musical identities.
The album's first single, "My Whole World," introduced listeners to this new direction. Written during Caleb Followill's recovery, the song reflects on family, togetherness, and an appreciation for the people who give life its greatest meaning. Inspired in part by the anticipation of an upcoming family cruise and the prospect of spending time with loved ones, the composition captures the emotional center of the album. Its accompanying music video features personal archival footage from the Followill family's home movies, including images from the brothers' childhood, reinforcing the song's themes of family, memory, and connection.
The band followed with "Cold Blue Dawn," offering another perspective on the forthcoming collection. The track received a distinctive visual treatment through a collaboration with The Weather Channel, incorporating satellite imagery from NASA's historic Landsat program. Using the natural contours of the Earth, including rivers, coastlines, farmland, and mountain ranges, the accompanying lyric video forms the song's words through satellite imagery, bringing music, nature, and technology together in an unusual visual presentation.
The collaboration followed an earlier Weather Channel feature incorporating Kings of Leon's music. The exchange developed into a creative partnership that ultimately resulted in the "Cold Blue Dawn" visual, connecting the expansive imagery of the natural world with the personal experiences and memories explored throughout the album.
Among the thirteen compositions is "KOYSAR," an expression derived from the phrase "Kick Off Your Shoes and Run." Drawing on childhood memories, the song reflects on the freedom of growing up and the experiences that remain meaningful into adulthood. Another composition, "Pretty Thing," revisits memories of a high-school romance, further illustrating the album's interest in personal history and the significance certain experiences acquire with time.
The album's creative process reflects a return to a more spontaneous and personal way of making music. From its initial acoustic compositions to the decision to assume complete production responsibility, the record developed around the natural character of the songs rather than an established production formula. The approach allowed the four members to draw on their shared musical history while exploring a more restrained and intimate sound.
O My Beloved also continues the band's relationship with LoveTap Records, LLC, the label imprint associated with its previous studio album, 2024's Can We Please Have Fun. The new album is distributed by Virgin Music Group. The band's previous release was issued under an exclusive license to Capitol Records, marking an earlier chapter in its recording and label history.
Since emerging from Nashville in the early 2000s, Kings of Leon have established themselves as one of the most successful and enduring rock bands of their generation. Their catalogue includes acclaimed releases such as Youth & Young Manhood, Aha Shake Heartbreak, Because of the Times, and the internationally successful Only by the Night, which featured the global hits "Sex on Fire" and "Use Somebody."
Throughout their career, the band has earned four Grammy Awards, achieved multi-platinum success, headlined major international festivals, and built a devoted worldwide audience. Their subsequent albums, including Come Around Sundown, Mechanical Bull, WALLS, When You See Yourself, and Can We Please Have Fun, have documented an ongoing musical evolution that balances their Southern musical foundations with a willingness to explore new creative territory.
With O My Beloved, Kings of Leon are not simply marking the arrival of another studio album. They are revisiting the musical instincts and personal experiences that helped shape their identity while embracing the freedom to create on their own terms. The decision to self-produce the record, the continuation of their relationship with LoveTap Records, and the deeply personal nature of the material collectively represent an important milestone in the band's continuing story.
After more than twenty years together, Caleb, Nathan, Jared, and Matthew Followill remain committed to discovering new ways to express themselves through music. O My Beloved captures that commitment through thirteen compositions informed by the experiences that brought them here and the relationships that continue to shape their lives.
