(PR) Hollywood Records releases The Drop: A Snowfall Saga (Original Soundtrack), a 13-track collection bringing the musical world of the FX series to life.
Featuring The Drop cast alongside Nipsey Hussle, Buddy, Symba, Roger Troutman, Denee Benton, Kurupt, Jason "Problem" Martin, Terrace Martin, Glasses Malone, Snoop Dogg, Lefty Gunplay, Jap5 and YS, the soundtrack is available now on all major streaming platforms.
Rooted in the series' portrayal of 1990s Los Angeles and the rise of West Coast rap, the soundtrack moves through stories of ambition, loyalty, desire and survival. From the tense storytelling of "Officer Blackman" and "One Wrong Move" to the vulnerability of "Sinful Obsession," the collection extends the characters' experiences through music while connecting generations of West Coast voices.
The soundtrack is executive produced by GRAMMY Award-winning producer and 1500 or Nothin' co-founder Larrance "Rance 1500" Dopson, whose credits include Kendrick Lamar's "These Walls," Sam Smith's "Pray" and Justin Timberlake's "Filthy." GRAMMY-nominated Compton rapper, songwriter and producer Jason "Problem" Martin serves as lyricist, while rapper and storyteller Glasses Malone serves as creative consultant, bringing his perspective and deep ties to Los Angeles culture to the project. Production across the collection includes contributions from Larrance "Rance 1500" Dopson, Seige Monstracity, Mike & Keys, Jason Taylor, Jason "Problem" Martin, Joshua Schuback, Terrace Martin and MyGuyMars.
Opening with Nipsey Hussle's "LA Theme Song," the collection features Buddy on "Officer Blackman," "Rydah," "Back to the Hood (Moves to Make)" and "There Goes the Neighborhood." Symba delivers "One Wrong Move" and appears alongside Roger Troutman on "Ruff & Tuff," while Denee Benton brings an intimate counterpoint with "Sinful Obsession."
The full release also includes "There Goes the Neighborhood Remix" featuring Kurupt, "Don't Take It Personal" with Jason "Problem" Martin, and "John's Theme," composed, produced and mixed by Terrace Martin. Buddy and Glasses Malone join the cast for "One Wrong Move Remix," before the collection closes with "Where You From Part 2," bringing together Snoop Dogg, Lefty Gunplay, Jap5, YS and Jason "Problem" Martin.
Samples and interpolations further connect the soundtrack to its musical influences. "Rydah" samples "Cutie Pie," "Back to the Hood (Moves to Make)" samples "Ain't Nobody," and "Ruff & Tuff" samples "So Ruff, So Tuff." "One Wrong Move" and its remix interpolate "Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt."
The soundtrack arrives alongside the finale, Episode 8, "Hercules," airing tonight, Tuesday, October 27, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FX and 9 p.m. PT on Hulu. In the episode, Wanda forms an unlikely alliance and risks everything on a bold move that could change their future forever. "Hercules" is written by Lex Edness & Christine Macedo and directed by Alonso Alvarez.
