(Audible Treats) Surf7 delivered on his immense potential when he released his debut mixtape, WHOVILLE,, last week. The red hot Philadelphia native keeps his run going by releasing his new music video, "YODA." Produced by Michigan sound architect Wayne616, who provides propulsive 808s and snaky guitar melodies, the beat for "YODA" inspires Surf to twist up his words like the titular character, twisting his tongue to fire off some of his fieriest flexes to date:
"The feds do a sweep, so I'm back trappin' on my doly/The devil 'round the corner, me and 5 smack the Toyota/I throw this b*tch in sport and tap the gas in a Tacoma/I'm back up on that drank, it keep me bippy like I'm Yoda."
Directed by ETS Films, the video matches Surf's manic energy from the song, as he travels around Philly in a limo with some of the baddest baddies his city has to offer.
Surf's debut mixtape, WHOVILLE spans 16 tracks, bolstering Surf's reputation as the best young rapper in his city. The new tape is home to major highlights like "GOOSE COAT," which was one of the top viral rap hits of the summer, inspiring a viral push-up trend that generated more than 1 million TikTok creations and over 6 million streams on Spotify alone. "GOOSE COAT" got another boost earlier this summer, when Philly's own Meek Mill gave his stamp of approval and hopped on the remix (over 2 million total plays and 1.3 million YouTube views to date. Both versions of "GOOSE COAT" appear on the tape, alongside additional singles like "7AM in NY," "FRM DA JETZ, the soulful "GET IN MODE," and "SURGERY," produced by Platinum producer Buddah Bless This Beat. New highlights include "WTF," a furious collaboration between Surf7 and fellow Philly native Skrilla, and the Loe Shimmy collaboration "JUST THIS ONCE." Featuring an additional guest spot from Philly's own Kur, WHOVILLE is available on all platforms via 300 Entertainment.
Over the weekend, Surf celebrated the new mixtape with his hometown fans, hosting "A Night in WHOVILLE," his first headlining show. A free concert, "A Night In WHOVILLE" quickly filled up RSVPs, creating a sold out atmosphere that made the event one of the most exciting rap events in Philly in years. Surf's first headlining show follwed several high-energy appearances with the likes of Loe Shimmy, Babychiefdoit, and Babyfxce E during their tour stops in the City of Brotherly Love.
