Ado Surprise Release 'Patient A' For Her Birthday
(Shore Fire Media) Japanese vocalist Ado marks her 24th birthday with the surprise release of her new single, "Patient A" (Kanja A), written and composed especially for her by longtime musical inspiration Yoeko, who also contributes backing vocals. The song arrives alongside its official music video.
"Patient A" imagines society as a theater and its protagonist as a performer forced to play an assigned role. Smiling on the outside while rebelling within, she channels frustration with imposed expectations into a fierce, darkly ironic performance.
Featuring artwork by manga artist Tomo Kobone and video production by Cymo, the music video follows Ado as a student in the drama club at the fictional Niconico High School after part of her costume disappears before a performance. Set in a largely monochrome world accented by purple typography and red linework, the video blurs reality and perception while capturing the song's nostalgic yet unsettling mood.
Comment from Ado "I turned 24 on October 24. To celebrate, I released my new song, 'Patient A,' as a Surprise on my birthday. Yoeko wrote the song especially for me.
