Parker Welling And Lydia Vaughan Launch Women's Writes Podcast
(The GreenRoom) Two of Nashville's renowned Country hitmaking songwriters Parker Welling and Lydia Vaughan announce the launch of Women's Writes, a songwriting podcast tapping into the creative relationships behind great songs.
Hosted by the best friends and collaborators, each episode brings together dynamic artist-songwriter partners to take a peek behind the curtain of the writing room, and hear personal stories about their songs and friendship. Welling and Vaughan have co-written three songs with their first guest, Lauren Alaina, including two tracks ("Household" and "Spin") from her brand-new album, Stages.
Releasing Thursdays, there will be guest episodes biweekly - including Jessi Alexander and Connie Harrington, and Ashley McBryde and Terri Jo Box - with mini solo episodes in between. Welling heads the latter, where a story, song, lyric, or question sends her down a rabbit hole of quick host-led exploration. What starts with songwriting might end up digging into psychology, history, creativity, or somewhere completely unexpected.

Giving The Tennessean an exclusive first-look at the Women's Writes studio and personal insight into the heart of the podcast, Welling shares that she wants to deep dive into the guest pairings to figure out, "What makes this work? What's the chemistry between you that makes you feel like I can say anything or I can take a risk?"
Vaughan adds, "Parker knows how to tell a story and how to listen to a story. She deeply cares about songs and people, and somehow she can connect the dots in someone's story that they might not have even connected yet themselves."
The name Women's Writes came to be after Welling and Vaughan attended a writing retreat where a last-minute male cancellation unexpectedly turned the group into an all-female room. Surprised they had never been on a girls-only trip before, the impactful experience inspired the pair to intentionally plan the next female-forward writing retreat and call it Women's Writes. A nod to their partnership as women who write together and to celebrate the magic of finding the people you create best with, the podcast now carries that same idea forward, with Season One having an all-female guest lineup.
